Age & Dementia Friendly

The Age & Dementia Friendly Task Group is a sub-committee of the Seniors Network that works collaboratively to make the cities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows more inclusive and accessible for people living with dementia, and support Age Friendly Initiatives locally so that our community can age will in the communities they love.

The Purpose of the task group is to respond to the needs of our aging seniors by developing and supporting Age and Dementia inclusiveness in the cities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.  Our current focus is to:

  • Help seniors age actively
  • Provide policies, services and structures
  • Promote safety, health and social inclusion
  • Work towards Stigma Reduction of Dementia 
  • Engage and advocate for seniors 
  • Give voice to the senior community

The ADFTG priorities for 2025 are:

  • Updating City of Maple Ridge Age Friendly and Dementia Friendly Strategies
  • Creating a pilot ‘Silver Alert’ system
  • Stigma Reduction of Dementia and Aging
  • Planning a Senior Wellness Fair (June 7th, 2025)
