Seniors Provide Repair Service for over 39 years

Senior Citizens’ Repair Service serves the lower mainland and is now available in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows! This valuable service was originally established in 1980 by volunteer seniors through funding from a New Horizons for Seniors federal government grant. Volunteers are often the catalyst for many community ventures. The Senior Citizens’ Repair Service is sponsored by the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 170 and run entirely by volunteer seniors.

This is a win-win service for experienced retired and semi-retired tradespeople serving seniors 55 years and over and people with disabilities. They provide affordable low-cost minor house repairs, renovations, and maintenance which are better suited to smaller independents. Services includes plumbing, carpentry, electrical, gas fitting, painting, yard work and general handyperson services. All services are guaranteed for 30 days.

Currently, there is a plumber, electrician, and a general handyperson available in Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows. The Service wants to expand and is looking for experienced retired and/or semi-retired tradespeople interested in making some extra money and helping a fellow senior or a person with disabilities. Outside work is still available during Covid-19 keeping social distancing in mind. A part-time, volunteer dispatcher person is also needed.

The initial service charge is $40 plus $40 per hour, so your first hour is $80 and $40 per hour thereafter. If you are a senior 55+ or a person with disabilities in need of minor home repair, renovation, maintenance and would appreciate a low-cost service, call (604) 529-1100 between 9 am to 12 noon Monday to Friday for more information. Due to Covid-19 you will be re-directed to the dispatcher’s home phone number.
